Biografía. Maurice Jarre debutó en la compañía Renaud-Barralt en 1946, formando un dúo con Pierre Boulez ( piano y ondas Martenot ). Su carrera como compositor se inició en 1948, con la música para el espectáculo Le Gardien du Tombe, de Franz Kafka.

He also worked on The Train (1964), Mohammad, Messenger of God (1976), Lion of the Desert (1981), Witness (1985), Fatal Attraction (1987), and Ghost (1990).

Maurice Jarre was asked by director David Lean to write the score for Doctor Zhivago, including a theme for the character of Lara, played by Julie Christie. Initially Lean had desired to use a well-known Russian song but could not locate the rights to it, and delegated responsibility to Jarre.
In addition to 26 minutes of the original orchestral score composed by Maurice Jarre and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the album includes Tina Turner's US #2 and UK number-three single "We Don't Need Another Hero (Thunderdome)", which played over the end titles of the film.
