Mewar or Mewad is a region in the south-central part of Rajasthan state of India. It includes the present-day districts of Bhilwara , Chittorgarh , Pratapgarh , Rajsamand , Udaipur , Pirawa Tehsil of Jhalawar District of Rajasthan , Neemuch and Mandsaur of Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Gujarat.
The Kingdom of Mewar, also called Medapata, was an independent kingdom that existed in the Rajputana region of the Indian Subcontinent and later became a dominant state in medieval India. The kingdom was initially founded and ruled by the Guhila dynasty followed by the Sisodiya Dynasty.
Mewar ( Hindi: मेवाड़ Mevāṛ [ ˈmeːʋɑːɽ ]) ist eine Region im indischen Bundesstaat Rajasthan. Spätestens seit dem 8. Jahrhundert existierte dort ein rajputisches Fürstentum und später unter britischer Oberhoheit ein Fürstenstaat dieses Namens. Bis zum Jahr 1567 war Chittorgarh Hauptstadt von Mewar, danach Udaipur.
