Owensboro is a city in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It is the county seat of Daviess County. In 2020, there were 60,183 people living in Owensboro. The city was named after Colonel Abraham Owen. On August 14, 1936, downtown Owensboro was the site of the last public hanging in the United States.
