St Baglan's is small and steeped in history. From the circular churchyard, the 6th-century inscribed stone, the "pirate" grave, the cross slabs, medieval roof and Georgian pews, it's a deeply special place. A clump of gnarled oaks stretch their branches protectively around the church.
He founded the church at Baglan and lived in a cell adjoining it. [2] Legend says that he was seen (either by Cadoc or Illtud) carrying fire in his robe without burning it so Illtud gave him a crozier and instructed him to build a church where he found a tree that bore three fruit.

St. Baglan’s church in Llanfaglan was built in the 13th century, but the cemetery surrounding the building and the stones from the 5th and 6th centuries in its structure, indicate that it was built on the site of a much older temple, which according to tradition is attributed to a saint from the 7th century, Baglan ap Dingad.
