  3. The earlier Saxon church, which was thought to serve Edensor, was replaced early in the Norman period. There is a written record, dating from the reign of King Stephen, which declares that Henry Fulcher gave the living to the Augustinian abbey of St Mary, Rocester, in Staffordshire.

It was designed by Sir Gilbert Scott for the 6th Duke of Devonshire and incorporates an older Norman church on the same site.
