Argumento. La historia comienza durante la Nochebuena, el 24 de diciembre de 1990, exactamente dos años después del incidente de Nakatomi Plaza. John McClane está en el Aeropuerto Internacional Dulles cerca de Washington D. C. Mientras espera a su esposa Holly de que llegue de California, una grúa del aeropuerto se lleva el coche de sus suegros.
