It extends for some 25 miles (40 km) along the state’s southeastern coastline. The city, primarily a chain of seaside resorts, is home to a number of beaches that attract surfers.
The Gold Coast (Minjungbal: Kurrungal) is the name given to a 57-kilometre long stretch of coast in the south east corner of Queensland, Australia. At the south end is the town of Coolangatta on the border with New South Wales. The north end of the Gold Coast is at Beenleigh and includes South Stradbroke Island.
