Website. www .lcpsnc .org /khs. Kinston High School is a high school located in Kinston, North Carolina, United States. Kinston High was built in 1970 as an integrated high school to serve the city. The International Baccalaureate program started at Kinston High during the 2003–2004 school year.
After the decision in 1970 to make way for the newly constructed and integrated Kinston High School, it served as Kinston Jr. High School until 1987 (when ninth-grade students were moved to the campus of Kinston High School and eighth-grade students were relocated to the campus of Rochelle Middle School).

The culmination of the integration of Adkin and Grainger High Schools, the current Kinston High School campus proudly opened its doors in January of 1979.
