Van (Ermenice: Վան, Kürtçe: Wan, Osmanlıca: وان, Azerice: Van), Türkiye'nin Van ilinin merkezi olan şehirdir. Anadolu 'nun en büyük kapalı havzası olan Van Gölü kıyısında toprakları verimli, akarsuları bol, iklim koşulları oldukça elverişli bir yerleşim merkezidir.
Van, city, eastern Turkey, situated on the eastern shore of Lake Van. The city lies at an elevation of about 5,750 feet (1,750 metres) in an oasis at the foot of a hill crowned by an ancient ruined citadel. A ruined stone building near the foot of the rocky spur bears cuneiform inscriptions dating.

Van Province (Turkish: Van ili, Kurdish: Parezgêha Wanê, Armenian: Վանի մարզ) is a province and metropolitan municipality in the Eastern Anatolian region of Turkey, between Lake Van and the Iranian border. Its area is 20,921 km 2, and its population is 1,128,749 (2022).
Van, whose history dates back to the Paleolithic Period, has been an important settlement center throughout history due to its location on the Silk Road. It was the capital of the Urartian Civilization and continued to maintain its importance during the Seljuk and Ottoman Periods.
