    Eeveelution

"Eeveelution" originally was an unofficial term used by fans, but the term eventually passed into the realm of official usage first as a pun in the official guide of Pokémon Stadium 2, and then later in the TCG Theme Deck Eeveelution, as well as in the game Pokémon Ranger: Shadows of Almia. "Eevee-Lu-Tion" is officially used as the English title of the 31st chapter of Magical Pokémon Journey. In this chapter title, Lu is the name of an Eevee.

    Veevee

"Veevee" (Japanese: ブイブイ Veevee) was introduced with the Japanese name of the Eon Mail (Japanese: ブイブイメール Veevee Mail) in Generation II. In English, this term was introduced with the move Veevee Volley in Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. Pokémon Sword and Shield had NPCs in the Battle Tower use the term. Notably, Penny calls her Pokémon (several evolved forms of Eevee) her "Veevees".

Eevee is available relatively early in Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal, but keeps its rarity. Generation II introduced friendship and a day-night cycle, and alongside them, two new Eeveelutions that take advantage of the new mechanics: Espeon and Umbreon. Each of Ecruteak City's Kimono Girlsowns one of the five Eeveelutions that existed in Generation II. Eevee cannot evolve into Espeon or Umbreon in Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, due to the absence of a day-night cycle. However, as both are...

    Introduced in Generation IV

After an entire generation with no new Eeveelutions, Generation IV added another pair of Eeveelutions, Leafeon and Glaceon, which are obtained by leveling Eevee up in certain areas—another departure from the methods of evolution in previous generations. Since Generation VIII, however, they can also be obtained through the use of an Evolution stone. Eevee cannot evolve into Leafeon or Glaceon in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, due to the absence of the areas required for its evolution in eit...
