The appellation Bonnes-Mares lies just south of the Clos de Tart, the neighbouring Grand Cru, forming a rectangle between the hollowed hillsides of Morey and Chambolle. More of it lies in the territory of Chambolle-Musigny than that of Morey-Saint-Denis.
Bonnes Mares is a Grand Cru vineyard and appellation shared between the Chambolle Musigny and Morey-Saint Denis communes in the Côte de Nuits region. It’s home to several prestigious Burgundian producers that craft heavier and more robust Pinot Noir wines than its neighbor, Le Musigny.
The Côte de Nuits is known for producing some of the most iconic and age-worthy Pinot Noir wines in the world. And right at the top of the list is the Grand Cru vineyard Bonnes-Mares, from which it’s not uncommon for the wines to develop beautifully over 30 or 40, even 50 years.
