Unlike older versions you will not find any Loran in the world. If you think you are ready for The Abyss Dimension you have probably slept once and twice. If you haven't you will need to sleep once and then sleep another time. Each time you will be teleported to the Dreaming Dimension.
After the second dream, you will need to find an Abandoned House structure in a forest as the guide book says. In there you will find a Broken Radio . You will then need to craft 10 Unstable Obsidian and a Portal Activator. Placing the Obsidian in a portal format and lighting it with the Activator will create the portal.
The shape is the same as a Nether portal. You should be careful when activating the portal: If you activate the portal near dirt or grass blocks, the abyss will spread some rotten dirt blocks in the Overworld. Be careful.
