Very elegant, Habenaria radiata (White Egret Orchid) is a hardy terrestrial orchid boasting incredibly beautiful flowers resembling a snowy egret in flight. The pristine white flowers, 1.5 in. wide (4 cm), feature two large, highly fringed petals that extend laterally, from which a central elongated and pointing petal extends.
Pecteilis radiata (syn. Habenaria radiata) is a species of orchid found in China, Japan, Korea and Russia. It is commonly known as the white egret flower, fringed orchid or sagisō (鷺草). The Pecteilis radiata grows with small tubers, from which grasslike leaves emerge.
The White Egret Orchid is a small terrestrial orchid from grassy wetlands and seepage slopes throughout Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and some parts of eastern China. This species is in rapid decline over its entire range.
