Cleopatra. (Cleopatra VII; Alejandría, 69 - 30 a. C.) Última reina de Egipto, perteneciente a la dinastía de los Ptolomeos o Lágidas. Dos siglos y medio antes del nacimiento de Cleopatra, el celebérrimo Alejandro Magno había forjado en sólo diez años un vasto imperio que incluía el viejo Egipto.
Cleopatra, cuyo nombre significa “gloria de su padre”, fue la última reina de la dinastía ptolemaica, y con su muerte se cerró el periodo helenístico de Egipto. Es una de las figuras más recordadas del Antiguo Egipto, y pese a ello, apenas nos han llegado representaciones fiables de su rostro.
