Edna Rae Gillooly (Detroit, Míchigan; 7 de diciembre de 1932), más conocida por su nombre artístico Ellen McRae inicialmente, y luego como Ellen Burstyn después de su matrimonio en 1964 con el actor Neil Burstyn, es una actriz estadounidense.
Burstyn was credited as Ellen McRae until 1967, when she and her then-husband Neil Nephew both changed their surname to Burstyn, and she began to be credited as Ellen Burstyn. In 1970, she appeared uncredited in the Joseph Strick adaptation of Henry Miller's controversial novel Tropic of Cancer.
Her third (and last) husband, Neil Burstyn was a bright, talented upcoming actor and writer (The Monkees (1965)). According to Ellen, he eventually degenerated into mental illness and became schizophrenic and violent.
