  3. The Gräfenstein castle ruins are a jewel from the Staufer era. It stands on an approx. 12 meter high, oval rock plateau made of red sandstone, approx. 2 km east of Merzalben. The castle, affectionately called "Merzalber Schloss" by the citizens, is at the same time the namesake of the hiking region Graefensteiner Land.

  6. Gräfenstein Castle (Pfalz) is a beautiful ruin, like many other undiscovered castles and ruins in the Pfalz-area. It lies on a 12-metre-high rock plateau (447 m above sealevel). It's partly renovated. The main tower is accessible and gives a great view on the surrounding landscape!
