The European Parliament (EP) is one of the legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. Together with the Council of the European Union (known as the Council and informally as the Council of Ministers), it adopts European legislation, following a proposal by the European Commission.
Seats by political group and country: 2024-2029. The European Parliament will publish the results of the 2024 European elections per Member State, as well as a projection of its composition on 9 June 2024.

MEPs have approved the European Council’s decision increasing the number of seats in the European Parliament for the next legislative term from 705 to 720.
The city of Strasbourg in France is the official seat of the European Parliament. The institution is legally bound by the decision of Edinburgh European Council of 11 and 12 December 1992 and Article 341 of the TFEU to meet there twelve times a year for a session, each of which usually takes about four days.
