Military units. The primary task of the Army's military units is to contribute to the defence of Sweden with our capacity to repel a similarly equipped opposing ground force. On Parliament's orders, our units must also be prepared to take part in military operations outside Sweden. In such cases, the Army contributes personnel and materiel.
The main task of the Swedish Armed Forces is to defend Sweden against an armed attack. The agency must promote Sweden’s security, assert Sweden’s territorial integrity and have the capacity to safeguard Sweden’s sovereign rights and Swedish interests, as well as prevent and manage conflicts and wars both domestically and internationally.
