In sum, the initiative is mapping the migration route from the PIE homeland all the way to China.

  4. The Tocharian Trek aims to write, and partly rewrite, the linguistic prehistory of the Tarim Basin in Northwest China and southern Central Siberia. To date, the most important results are the following: Peyrot, Michaël. 2019. "The deviant typological profile of the Tocharian branch of Indo-European may be due to Uralic substrate influence".

  5. Tocharian is known through manuscripts from Northwest China dating from 500–1000 AD. It is an Indo-European language, related to a.o. Latin, Greek, English and Dutch. The speakers of Tocharian must therefore have made a long trek from Europe to China.
