Vassar College ( / ˈvæsər / VASS-ər) is a private liberal arts college in Poughkeepsie, New York, United States. Founded in 1861 by Matthew Vassar, it was the second degree-granting institution of higher education for women in the United States. The college became coeducational in 1969.

Vassar is a global campus with a global reach. We have established partnerships with the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda, University of Edinburgh, and IIT Bombay to advance higher education in the liberal arts through knowledge exchange, convenings, and co-development of novel educational programming.
The Biology Department offers courses in all aspects of biology, from molecular biology and genomics to physiology and behavior, and from microbiology and public health to ecosystems and restoration ecology.
