  2. The Washington Youth Academy is a quasi-military training and mentoring program for at-risk youth. The goal of the program is to give youth a second chance to become responsible and productive citizens by helping them improve their life skills, education levels and employment potential.

  5. The Washington Youth Academy (WYA) is a statewide program serving students from all of Washington’s 39 counties. The Academy is a partnership between the National Guard and the Washington State Military Department (WMD). The WYA Director reports to The Adjutant General (TAG) of the WMD.   6. The Washington Youth Academy is part of the National Guard Youth Challe NG e program and is a state-run residential and post-residential program for youth between sixteen and eighteen who have dropped out of high school or at risk of dropping out and offers free tuition to those who qualify.
