The 7.92×57mm Mauser (designated as the 8mm Mauser or 8×57mm by the SAAMI [2] and 8 × 57 IS by the C.I.P. [3]) is a rimless bottlenecked rifle cartridge. The 7.92×57mm Mauser cartridge was adopted by the German Empire in 1903–1905, and was the German service cartridge in both World Wars.
5 de ago. de 2014 · The original 8mm cartridge, like so many of the era, was a heavy-for-the-caliber, round-nose bullet, just more than 220-grains at about 2050 fps. It was faster than the previous 11mm black-powder service cartridges although far below the potential of the cartridge. Bore diameter was similar to the .303 British.
6 de dic. de 2019 · The 8mm caliber has a wide range of cartridges using it because it was developed in the late 1800s. Here, we can compare the relatively mild 8mm Mauser 198-grain load to a 8mm Remington Magnum 200-grain load. The 8mm Mauser is its own case, and the 8mm Remington Magnum was developed from the .375 H&H case.
Combined with bullets with jackets designed for magnum cartridge muzzle velocities, and barrels of 650 mm (25.6 in) or longer to promote high muzzle velocities, the 8mm Remington Magnum offers the flattest trajectory and best long range performance of the commercially available 8 mm rifle cartridges.
30 de abr. de 2018 · The 8mm — or 7.92 — Mauser was the German military rifle cartridge through both World Wars. It was officially adopted in 1888 with a bullet diameter of .318 inch. In 1905, the bullet diameter was increased to .323 inch. In Europe, the 8mm Mauser and several other 8mm cartridges are available in both sizes.
