  4. Alan had found constant touring considerably difficult after the tragedy. He bowed out at the beginning of 1996. Alan has since recorded a solo album and also had a brief spell with Micky Finn's T-Rex. He now lives in Germany.

  5. Alan’s voice, energy and drive for success re-established the name of “Smokie” as a worldwide touring and recording band. Sadly, tragedy struck in March 1995 with the death of Alan Barton following a motorway accident in Colonge - Germany.

  7. Last night in Melbourne there was a most emotional reunion for Smokie, when we found out that original lead guitarist Alan Silson was in the audience. We made sure that we got Alan backstage after the show. A few laughs and a few tears as you'd expect, but we were all delighted to see Alan.
