Anambra State is a Nigerian state, located in the southeastern region of the country. The state was created on 27 August 1991. Anambra state is bounded by Delta State to the west, Imo State and Rivers State to the south, Enugu State to the east and Kogi State to the north.

Anambra, state, east-central Nigeria. Anambra state was first formed in 1976 from the northern half of East-Central state, and in 1991 it was considerably reduced in area by an administrative reorganization that created the new state of Enugu.

9 de ago. de 2023 · To deepen relationships in the southeast region of Nigeria, UNDP officially commissioned an office in Anambra State and signed an MOU with the Anambra Government on May 26, 2023. This landmark event means that UNDP Nigeria will be working closely with the government and people of Anambra.
The area today, known as Anambra State was created on August 27, 1991, along with eight other states of Nigeria by the then Military President, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida GCFR. The state derives its name from Anambra River, which is a colonial convenient pronunciation of Omambala River.
