After relocating from New Rochelle, NY, to Arlington, VT, in 1941. With professional models not so readily available, Rockwell began using his neighbors as inspiration for his illustrated stories. Every few weeks his neighbors began appearing as subjects on such Post covers as The Gossips, which appeared in March 1948.
