Emilio Vedova (9 August 1919 – 25 October 2006) was a modern Italian painter. He is considered one of the most important artists to emerge from Italy's artistic scene, Arte Informale.
Emilio Vedova (Venecia, 9 de agosto de 1919 - Ib., 25 de octubre de 2006) fue un pintor y grabador italiano. Biografía. De una familia de obreros Emilio Vedova nace en Venecia en 1919. La mayor parte de su vida transcurre en Venecia donde enseña durante muchos años en la Academia de Bellas Artes.
La tradición veneciana, en todas sus formas, se abrió paso en su estilo. Junto a influencias internacionales como Rembrandt, Goya y Daumier, su obra evoca profundamente a Tiziano, Tintoretto, Guardi y la arquitectura barroca veneciana, de la que extrajo un particular sentido del dinamismo.

Vedova was awarded the Grand Prize for Painting at the 1960 Venice Biennale. The same year he created moving light sets and costumes for Luigi Nono’s opera Intolleranza ’60 . This experience led to the first Plurimi in 1961–63: freestanding, hinged, and painted sculpture/paintings made of wood and metal.
Considered one of the most influential Italian artists of the post-war period, Emilio Vedova is renowned for his expressive and gestural abstract paintings which seem to directly respond to the tumultuous political climate of his time.
