Mr. Sunshine se centra en Eugene Choi, un joven nacido como Choi Yoo-jin en la familia de un sirviente doméstico, que viajó de niño a los Estados Unidos durante la Expedición de Estados Unidos a Corea (para los coreanos Shinmiyangyo en coreano: 신미양요) de 1871.
Mr. Sunshine centres around Eugene Choi, who was born into slavery in Joseon. After his father is beaten to death and his mother dies protecting him, young Eugene escapes to the United States at the time of the 1871 Shinmiyangyo incident with the help of a Christian missionary.

Love the funny exchanges amongst Eugene Choi, Gu Dong-Mei and Kim Hui-Seong and their eventual camaraderie. Love how chill and Hina Kino remains throughout the story.
