Wayne Campbell, un joven que toca la guitarra y es amante del rock, es conductor de un programa juvenil junto con su introvertido y raro amigo Garth Algar, quien toca la batería. Junto con otros de sus amigos, que a su vez son el personal del programa, montan su producción en el sótano de una casa, en Aurora, Illinois.
Wayne's best friend is Garth Algar. He gets very nervous without Wayne, and appears to have a fear of heights. He also gets nervous whenever he sees his Dream Woman at the donut shop.
Based on the Saturday Night Live sketch Wayne's World, it stars Myers in his feature film debut as Wayne Campbell and Dana Carvey as Garth Algar, a pair of rock and heavy metal fans who broadcast a public-access television show.

A local station decides to hire him and his sidekick, Garth, to do their show professionally and Wayne & Garth find that it is no longer the same.
