13 de may. de 2024 · History. Munich, Germany. Munich, or München (“Home of the Monks”), traces its origins to the Benedictine monastery at Tegernsee, which was probably founded in 750 ce. In 1157 Henry the Lion, duke of Bavaria, granted the monks the right to establish a market where the road from Salzburg met the Isar River.

Origin. Munich city coat-of-arms. The year 1158 is assumed to be the foundation date of Munich, which is only the earliest date the city is mentioned in a document. By that time the Guelph Henry the Lion, Duke of Saxony and Bavaria, built a bridge over the river Isar next to a settlement of Benedictine monks .

Historia de Múnich. Apariencia. ocultar. El germen de la ciudad de Múnich fue un pequeño monasterio fundado en el siglo VIII por monjes procedentes de la abadía situada a orillas del lago Tegernsee, al sureste de Baviera. Este monasterio se hallaba situado donde hoy se alza la iglesia de San Pedro.
