The best punk bands are artists propelled by an incandescent energy, aggressive, fast and fiery, their trailblazing tunes carving out a niche in the canon of all-time greats.
- The Offspring. Nacidos en 1984 bajo el nombre de Manic Subsidial (que mantendrán hasta 1986) no alcanzan su cumbre de ventas hasta la publicación de su disco “Smash” en 1994.
- Rancid. Otros de los artífices de la segunda ola del punk californiano fueron Tim Armstrong y compañía. Pese a ser este un gran fan del hardcore, Rancid se caracteriza por su mezcla de punk más clásico con el ska y el reggae.
- Bad Religión. Greg Graffin y los suyos volvieron a poner el punk rock en boca de todos devolviéndolo al mainstream en los ’80 y principios de los ’90. Les caracteriza un uso de melódicos y un estilo más reflexivo que agresivo.
- NOFX. Remando a favor de la ola impulsada por Bad Religión llegaban NO-EF-EX para convertirse en una de las bandas de punk rock más exitosas de los ’90.
