USCCB Subcommittees Translation of Scripture Text. The Subcommittee on the Translation of Scripture Text evaluates Scripture translations that have been submitted to it for approval for use by the Catholic faithful.
The New Testament of The New American Bible, a fresh translation from the Greek text, was first published in complete form in 1970, together with the Old Testament translation that had been completed the previous year.
The following four translations of the Bible are all approved for Catholic use and are among the most commonly used translations.
