When "Charlotte" aired in 2015 I skipped it because everywhere I could only hear "The ending is rushed and ruined the whole series". But because of the still trending Meme (you know, the one with Nao Tomori holding the bread), I finally decided to watch it.
Well without spoiling the story, and does differ greatly per person, but basically: Yes. It’s sad in the middle, but it has a happy start and a relatively happy end. I've watched a lot of anime, and this is the only one that's made me full on cry. So, yes, I'd say it's sad. You just gotta see for yourself.
Last episode stretched to the second half of the season. Seriously, psycho delinquent yu was the best character in the series, and he lived and died in just one episode after the first half and made his ressurection in the last half of the last episode.
