Mark Hamill voiced the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series, Mask of the Phantasm, New Batman Adventures, Superman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited. Hamill has voiced numerous other versions of Joker for Rocksteady's Arkhamverse games, The Killing Joke movie, DC Universe Online and Justice League Action.
Hamill dubbed the lines of Roger Stoneburner for Joker's live-action appearance in the Birds of Prey show. Additionally he narrated Legends of the Dark Knight: The History of Batman then voiced Tony Zucco in The Batman and the Spectre in Batman: The Brave and the Bold.

•When Hamill was hired to takeover for the Joker role, he had to match the mouth movements in the pre-etablished animation based on Tim Curry's performance, during the ADR process. Normally dialogue is recorded before it's sent overseas to be animated, with only minor sounds and cleaning up necessary during the ADR process. •Mark's voice-over career began doing vocal work for The New Scooby-Doo movies. He also was doing voice-work for Ralph Bakshi's 1977 animated picture Wizards, which also dealt with similar space-opera science-fiction fantasy and supernatural themes. Since the pivotal role of Luke Skywalker seemed to have pigeonholed him completely in front of the camera, he stayed behind the microphone has garnered a prolific career as a voice-over actor. •He voiced lines from Sam Hamm's original 89 Batman script for a storyboard sequence, driving the Joker Van and murdering Robin's parents for the 2005 dvd. •Mark Hamill, having voiced the Joker in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, announced via his own Twitter account that he was going to retire from the role of the Joker. In fact, Arkham City's ending was fitting enough to retire his Joker on a high note. This wasn't the first time Hamill said goodbye to the Clown Prince of Crime. After the release of Batman: Arkham Asylum, Hamill revealed, regarding his role as the Joker, that: "This will be my last, there's no question about that. But it's the last hurrah." Some months later, with the announcement of Batman: Arkham City, he clarified the rumors about him retiring from the role by saying, via his Twitter account: "Only said Arkham Asylum would be hard to top, not that I was quitting." For his allegedly final performance as "The Joker", he recieved the BAFTA for Best Voice-Over Performance. He did not appear at the ceremony in the U.K. to collect it. •On October 19, 2011, shortly after the release of Arkham City, Mark Hamill again announced his retirement on his Twitter account: "Hello/Goodbye Joker! I've enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the Clown Prince’s crazy car — I'm going to miss him more than I can say!!" But on October 28, Hamill wrote "Just thought I would clarify that my Joker comments are not related to Arkham City", implying he might return as the character. Hamill has since denied his statements of retiring the character, stating that he was somehow "misquoted". Later, on June 2012, WB Games released the expansion pack titled "The Last Laugh" for the MMORPG DC Universe Online, featuring Mark Hamill's official return as the Joker. On June 13, 2012, Hamill answered to a tweet sent by LucBruno88 saying that he doesn't exclude the possibility of returning as Joker in another Arkham game: "Never say never." Unfortunately, LucBruno88's account has been deactivated and the entire conversation cannot be read from Hamill's official Twitter page. •As of the 2011 Comic-con, Mark Hamill made comments on voicing the character in any adaption of Batman: The Killing Joke. Though initially considering to do a "book on tape", Hamill said that if there would ever be an animated version of The Killing Joke, he would gladly voice the Joker again. Hamill encouraged fans to campaign for said adaptation, most notably in a tweet made on October 24, 2011. Since then, a Facebook page titled "Petition to get Mark Hamill to play the Joker in animated Killing Joke" has been set up by his fans. It was later announced that Mark Hamill would be voicing the Joker in the animated adaptation of Batman: The Killing Joke. •On December 8, 2014 there was press announcement that Mark Hamill would reprise his role as The Trickster a member of The Flash's rouge gallery on The CW's new hit series The Flash in episode 17 Tricksters on March 31st 2015. Hamill originally played the role in the short lived CBS tv series of The Flash in (1990–1991) two episodes and subsequently voiced the character in an episode of Justice League Unlimited (TV Series) entitled "Flash and Substance".

On July 27, Collider reported that Hamill would voice the Joker in the film. The film was released in theaters for a two-day limited time. It was released on Digital HD on July 27, 2016. It was released on DVD and Blu-ray on August 2. Hamill reprised the Joker for the animated series Justice League Action.
