Waylon Smithers, Jr. met him at an Elvis Presley museum and asked him to come work at the Springfield Nuclear Power Plant so that he could join the softball team.

  6. Smithers recruits Steve Sax, Wade Boggs, Ozzie Smith, Roger Clemens, Don Mattingly, Darryl Strawberry, Ken Griffey Jr., Jose Canseco and Mike Scioscia. Mr. Burns gives them token jobs at the plant so they can play on the team, much to the dismay of the plant's players, and hires a hypnotist to boost his team's chances of winning.
