The Snow Queen (Russian: Снежная королева, romanized: Snezhnaya Koroleva) is a 1957 Soviet animated musical fantasy film directed by Lev Atamanov. It is the ninth full-length animated production by Soyuzmultfilm and is based on the 1844 fable “The Snow Queen” by Hans Christian Andersen.
The Snow Queen: Directed by Lev Atamanov. With Vladimir Gribkov, Yanina Zheymo, Anna Komolova, Mariya Babanova. A young girl embarks on a perilous journey to rescue her friend, who has been taken captive by the Snow Queen and turned cruel by enchanted ice splinters.

Atamanov was one of the most respected Soviet animators and is regarded as one of the greatest artists in the history of animation. He was named People’s Artist of the RSFSR in 1978. In a 2021 interview Hayao Miyazaki cited Atamanov's 1957 film The Snow Queen as a seminal influence on his work and his favorite film.
When the Snow Queen, a lonely and powerful fairy, kidnaps the human boy Kay, his best friend Gerda must overcome many obstacles on her journey to rescue him.
