20 de ago. de 2020 · 1910 was a pivotal year for Charles Franklin, it was the year he resigned his job as an engineer at the Rathmines Power Station and set up his own Indian dealership. He worked on tuning and racing Indian motorcycles and in 1912 at the famed Brooklands race track in Britain became the first man to cover 300 miles in 300 minutes.
Charles Bayly Franklin (13 October 1880 – 19 October 1932) was an engineer and a motorcycle racer. He designed motorcycles for the Indian Motocycle Company, including the original Indian Scout of 1920, the original Indian Chief of 1922, and the Indian 101 Scout of 1928.

Following an inspired effort in 1910 that was unfortunately hampered by tire troubles, Indian’s 1911 assault on the TT was the American company’s year. Franklin himself was a factory-supported rider on a team led by American star and future Hall of Famer Jacob DeRosier.
