Falleció el 1 de marzo de 1938 en su residencia del Lago de Garda. Poseía el título de Príncipe de Montenevoso. Tenía 74 años de edad. Está enterrado en Il Vittoriale de Gardone Riviera. “Canto Nuovo” (1882) fue el libro de poemas que consiguió romper el anonimato de D’Annunzio como literato.
