George Stubbs (nacido en Liverpool el 25 de agosto de 1724-fallecido en Londres el 10 de julio de 1806), conocido sobre todo por sus pinturas de caballos. Stubbs era hijo de un curtidor. La información que se conserva sobre su vida hasta los treinta y tres está muy dispersa, y se encuentra sobre todo en unas notas manuscritas por un artista amigo, Ozias Humphry , al final de la vida de Stubbs.

Cuvier), and a hamadryas baboon, Papio hamadryas (L.), at a time when there was confusion about the different kinds of apes and monkeys.
