Little Red Riding Hood is a European fairy tale about a young girl and a sly wolf. Its origins can be traced back to several pre-17th-century European folk tales. The two best known versions were written by Charles Perrault and the Brothers Grimm.
23 de may. de 2024 · The earliest written version was “Le Petit Chaperon Rouge” (English title: “Little Red Riding Hood”), published by French storyteller Charles Perrault in 1697 in his collection of fairy tales Contes de ma mère l’oye ( Tales of Mother Goose ). Perrault most likely adapted the story from an oral folktale.

Perrault had written "Little Red Riding Hood" as a warning to readers about strangers preying on young girls walking through the forest. He concludes his fairy tale with a moral, cautioning women and young girls about the dangers of trusting men.

One day, the girl’s mother asks her to go and visit her grandmother, who lives in the next village, through the forest.
