1 de feb. de 2022 · A malignant neoplasm (NEE-oh-plaz-um) is another term for a cancerous tumor. The term “neoplasm” refers to an abnormal growth of tissue. The term “malignant” means the tumor is cancerous and is likely to spread (metastasize) beyond its point of origin.
Malignant tumors have cells that grow uncontrollably and spread locally and/or to distant sites. Malignant tumors are cancerous (ie, they invade other sites). They spread to distant sites via the bloodstream or the lymphatic system. This spread is called metastasis.

Cancer often has the ability to spread throughout your body. Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the world.
Malignant tumors (cancer) can grow quickly and uncontrollably. These tumors can grow and spread into areas close by. Cells from these tumors can break away, travel through blood or lymph system, and begin to grow in other parts of the body. When this happens it is called metastasis.
