  3. Three species of Mansonella, a vector-borne filarial nematode genus, are associated with human infections: M. ozzardi, and M. perstans (= Dipetalonema perstans ), and M. streptocerca (=Dipetalonema streptocerca). These species vary in their geographic occurrence and localization within the host.

  4. 1 de sept. de 2018 · Human mansonellosis is caused by M. perstans, M. ozzardi and M. streptocerca, the three main filarial species in the genus Mansonella. Despite accumulating evidence of a high prevalence in endemic areas, there is currently no filariasis control programme targeting mansonellosis.

  5. The filarial nematode Mansonella ozzardi is the causal agent of mansonellosis, a questionably pathogenic disease of humans. It is transmitted by at least five species of black flies in the Neotropical rain forests of Brazil, Colombia, Guyana, Venezuela, and southern Panama, as well as in northwestern Argentina ( Table 14.2 ).

  6. 18 de ene. de 2018 · Mansonellosis is a filarial disease caused by three species of filarial (nematode) parasites ( Mansonella perstans, Mansonella streptocerca, and Mansonella ozzardi) that use humans as their main definitive hosts. These parasites are transmitted from person to person by bloodsucking females from two families of flies (Diptera).

  7. Mansonella ozzardi is a filarial ( arthropod -borne) nematode (roundworm). This filarial nematode is one of two that causes serous cavity filariasis in humans. The other filarial nematode that causes it in humans is Mansonella perstans. M. ozzardi is an endoparasite that inhabits the serous cavity of the abdomen in the human host.
