- Introducción a los Infectados. Los infectados son humanos que han sido afectados por la infección cerebral del hongo Cordyceps y que posteriormente mutaron en formas nuevas y horribles.
- Corredores. El primer contacto con el hongo Cordyceps hace que la víctima de la infección sea demasiado ágil. Los corredores (runners) son aquellos infectados recientemente, los cuales pueden ser reconocidos fácilmente por su gran velocidad, ataques algo lentos y menos enérgicos que los de otros tipos de infectados.
- Acechadores. Después de los Corredores están los Acechadores (Stalkers), que como su nombre lo indica son infectados que se especializan en atacar desde las sombras.
- Chasqueadores. Quizás el tipo de infectado más famoso del videojuego, que ya pudo aparecer en la serie, es el tercero. Como en los casos anteriores, su aspecto es diferente porque el hongo Cordyceps, a estas alturas, ya se expandió por todo el cuerpo y lo mutó hasta el punto de dejarlo ciego.
