Mary Seymour (30 August 1548 – c. ? [citation needed]), born at her father’s country seat, Sudeley Castle in Gloucestershire, was the only daughter of Thomas Seymour, 1st Baron Seymour of Sudeley (brother of Jane Seymour, third wife of Henry VIII), and the dowager queen, Catherine Parr, widow of Henry VIII.

When Mary Seymour was born on 30 August 1548, in Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, England, her father, Thomas Seymour, was 42 and her mother, Catherine Parr, was 36. She died in 1625, at the age of 77, and was buried in Saint James Churchyard, Canterbury, New Zealand.

Mary Seymour was the much wanted child of Katherine Parr from her fourth marriage to Sir Thomas Seymour. Queen Katherine moved to Sudelely Castle in summer 1548.

The birth took place at Sudeley Castle and the little girl was baptised Mary, being named after her godmother and stepsister, Mary Tudor, the future Mary I.
