The commune contains within it the Souppes-sur-Loing quarry, where the bright white travertine stones for construction of the Sacré-Cœur, Paris, were sourced.

The delightful medieval fortified town of Château-Landon is the historic capital of the Counts of the Gâtinais and a former pilgrimage site.
