William J. Seymour and the Pentecostal Movement. William J. Seymour is often credited as the founder or leader of the early Pentecostal movement. He was instrumental in the Azusa Street Revival in Los Angeles in 1906. He preached of a new Pentecost, where the gifts of the Holy Spirit were once again poured out upon humanity.
