The Marshals seem to have been seated at Martley, William Marshal of Martley being witness to a deed of William de Mans.

In 1339 the constable of Odiham was ordered to repair the granges, stables, and pinfold at Odiham, and in the following year a new pinfold was built there for the king's foals.
