Hace 5 días · The fortification of Warwick was completed with the building of a town wall, possibly placed near Ethelfleda's ramparts. Preliminary excavations in 1965 (fn. 9) revealed an earth rampart inside the line of the town wall, and a ditch in places 25 feet wide and 9 feet deep cut into the sandstone. The wall was built on the top of the rock face.
