Hace 3 días · The fortification of Warwick was completed with the building of a town wall, possibly placed near Ethelfleda's ramparts. Preliminary excavations in 1965 (fn. 9) revealed an earth rampart inside the line of the town wall, and a ditch in places 25 feet wide and 9 feet deep cut into the sandstone. The wall was built on the top of the rock face.

Kilkenny comes from the anglicized Irish Cill Chainnigh, which means Church of Canice. Next to the church is a tower that dates to the 9th century.
