Since her mother was the last of the Sierstorpff line, her (very rich) husband of lower nobility was awarded the title of a Baron von Sierstorff-Cramm. As the title was however linked to the estate, only Armgard's oldest sister (the eventual heiress to the estate) inherited the name and title of Baroness of Sierstorpff-Cramm.
Armgard was born at Bad Driburg, Kingdom of Prussia (now in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany), as the fourth child and fourth daughter of Baron Aschwin of Sierstorpff-Cramm (1846–1909), and his wife, Baroness Hedwig of Sierstorpff-Driburg (1848–1900). By birth she belonged to the noble and ancient family von Cramm.
Armgard Kunigunde Alharda Agnes Oda von Lippe-Biesterfeld (born Sierstorpff-Cramm) was born on month day 1883, in birth place, to Baron Aschwin von Sierstorpff-Cramm and Sophia Bernardina Luise Friederika Hedwig von Sierstorpff-Driburg (born von Slerstorpf-Driburg).

Prince Bernhard was the elder son of Prince Bernhard von Lippe and Baroness Armgard von Sierstorpff-Cramm. He was married to Queen Juliana. Prince Bernhard died on 1 December 2004.
