Bedales is known for being one of the best schools in England, as well as one of the most forward-thinking, taking away unnecessary restrictions to students. Pupils are allowed to dress casually and Bedales makes the school start time an hour later so that students are more well-rested and can better engage with, and experience, the education they are receiving.

The school is named after the house in which it began, in Haywards Heath. Bedales moved to its rural Hampshire site in 1900. Bedales Prep (for children aged 8-13), was founded in 1902 and moved to its present site in 1905, and the Pre-prep (for children aged 3-8) in 1953. Bedales is set in the heart of the South Downs National Park in Steep, near Petersfield, Hampshire. Our campus is easily accessible via the A3 or the A272; exit at the junction signposted services/Petersfield Industrial Estate.
